Gator Swim Team
2004
ND LONG COURSE CHAMPIONS AND 2004-2005 SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONS.
The FMY Gator Swim Team are the 2004 North
Dakota Long Course Champions and also the 2004-2005 Short Course
State Champions. With Head Coach Jeff Steele being named Coach
of the Year the past 3 seasons. Come out and join the FMY Gators.
If you have advanced beyond level 4 of the
Red Cross or YMCA swimming lessons program, you have acquired
the skills necessary to join the Gator Swim Team! To join the
Gators, you need not be a superstar, just come to one of the
regularly scheduled practices during the first week of any month
and you can sign up then. If you have any questions, you can

The Gators offer three training groups designed
to fit each athletes needs and ablities. The practice schedule
is designed to offer a training session for each group during
each practice time. This allows you the flexablity to choose
the practice times that best fit your family's schedule. The
groups are listed below with price per month for each group.
We do offer a ONE Month
trail period at a cost of $48.00, then after the first month
your swimmer will be assigned to one of the training groups.
Bronze Team (ages 6-11) Monthly fee= $40
Swimmers that are new to competitive swimming and are working
toward stroke proficiency. The new swimmer has passed level 3
Red Cross lessons and can swim 25 yards of front crawl or backstroke.
The Developmental team member will practice 3-4 times per week
for one hour per day. Practice times will be offered 5 days per
week for this group with an afternoon or evening time available
each day. The swimmer can choose which days to attend and whether
they what to swim in the afternoon or the evening. The meet schedule
includes local developmental meets and local invitionals. Which
meets the swimmer competes in are up to each family and competition
is not a requirement of membership. The emphasis at the developmental
is on an introduction to the sport of competitive swimming. The
ultimate goal is for swimmers to learn the four competitive strokes
and the basics of competitive swimming (streamlining, turns,
starts, circle swimming, and reading a pace clock).
Silver Team (ages 9 and over) Monthly fee= $45
Swimmers that have graduated from the developmental team or are
proficient in all four competitive strokes. The level two swimmer
would have passed level six of American Red Cross lessons. Practices
are held 5 days, with afternoon or evening times available, per
week and the swimmer attends 3-5 sessions per week. The training
sessions are 1 ½ hour in length. The level two swimmer
can complete the following training sets: 6 x 50 freestyle, 6x50
backstroke, 6x50 breaststroke, 6x50 kick, and 3x 100 IM. The
emphasis at Level two is on stroke skill development and the
introduction to specific training methods. The goal is to have
FUN while learning and developing in the sport of swimming. The
level two swimmer has competitive opportunities at local developmental
meets, local invitionals, some away invitionals, and, if qualified,
the ND State USA-S championship meet. The meets you compete in
is up to each individual family and is not a requirement of membership.
Gold Team (ages
11 and over) Monthly fee= $50
Swimmers that are 11 or over that have graduated from level two
or have had some previous experience in competitive swimming
(high school, other club teams), or swimmers under the age of
13 that have competed on a swim team, all abilities and levels.
The Level three swimmer can complete the following training sets:
10x100yd. free @ 1:50, 8x100yd. IM @ 2:00, and 6x100yd. kick
@ 2:15. The level three team will meet 5-10 times per week with
training sessions of 1 ½ to 2 hours in length and the
swimmers attend 5-8 sessions per week. The emphasis at the Senior
level is quality of training and development. We specialize our
training using aerobic endurance, aerobic power, sprint, and
stroke drills. The continued development of proper stroke technique,
starts, and turns is also a priority at level three. The ultimate
goal being to maximizize swimming performance. Competitive opportunities
for the level three swimmer include state meets, regional meets,
sectional meets, away invitionals, and national meets.
